Session 2: The Particle Parameters

Lead agent: Behavioral Neuroscientist

Key Findings

01

Loss aversion lambda ~ Normal(2.25, 0.65): Brown & Inman 2019 meta-analysis (84 samples). Replication status: MODERATE (several failures in financial domain).

02

Temporal discount beta_td ~ Beta(2, 5): Samuelson exponential as baseline; hyperbolic corrections documented. Large individual and cross-cultural variance.

03

Conformity gamma_conf ~ Beta(3, 4): Asch-type meta-analysis; varies systematically with group size and unanimity.

04

3 replication failures removed: power pose, ego depletion, and implicit bias IAT behavioral prediction — all failed methodological quality filter (score < 3/5).

New Caveats (3)

CRIT-CL-03: alpha_auth classification dispute — variable (micro.md) or constant (constants.md)?

CRIT-CL-01: beta_ingroup double-counting between micro.md and constants.md

Escalation warning: if Theta_fixed remains entirely undefined by Session 6, 4-layer architecture claim downgraded

Session Report

Session 2 filled in the formula's particle layer — the individual-level parameters that define how a single human unit responds to stimuli. The Behavioral Neuroscientist sent 15 sub-agents to retrieve the best empirical estimates for decision-making parameters from neuroeconomics, prospect theory, and social psychology literature.

The 4 most critical parameters were defined. Loss aversion lambda ~ Normal(2.25, 0.65), drawn from Brown & Inman's 2019 meta-analysis of 84 samples. Temporal discounting beta_td ~ Beta(2,5) using the exponential baseline with hyperbolic corrections noted. Conformity pressure gamma_conf ~ Beta(3,4) from Asch-type replications. Authority deference alpha_auth was the most contested: it sits at the boundary between a genetic constant and a culturally-variable parameter, creating a classification dispute (CRIT-CL-03) that would persist for 6 more sessions.

The session's rigorous quality filtering removed 3 parameters: power pose effects, ego depletion, and IAT behavioral prediction — all failed the minimum methodology quality score of 3/5 due to replication failures. This set the precedent for the entire project's evidence standards: only parameters with at least 3 independent sources and methodology score >= 3 are accepted into the formula.

The Philosopher approved the update but issued a critical escalation warning: the evolutionary constants layer (Theta_fixed) remained entirely undefined after 2 sessions, threatening the 4-layer architecture claim. All 8 retrodiction events remained untestable — the micro parameters exist but cannot produce numbers without the macro calibration layer.
