Lead agent: Network Scientist
Social networks are NOT scale-free: Broido & Clauset 2019 — reclassified to truncated power-law (gamma_sf ~ 2.3). SIR/SIS epidemic models inappropriate for opinion spread (complex contagion requires ~25% threshold, not single exposure).
Misinformation spreads ~6x faster than truth: Vosoughi et al. 2018 (Science, 126K stories) — novelty drives differential, not bots.
G_t 5-tuple APPROVED with caveats: G_t = (P_k, C, L, Q, rho_e). A_8 connectivity dynamics APPROVED: A_8(kappa) = alpha_net * (kappa_eq - kappa).
Philosopher quote: 'The Network Scientist produced good source material. The problem is not the research; it is the integration. The proposed machinery was bolted onto the existing formula without checking for contradictions, dimensional consistency, or redundancy.'
C9-4 CRITICAL: F_pol uses raw gamma_conf instead of gamma_conf_eff (sigmoid-saturated) — bypasses CROSS-002 fix from Session 7
C9-9 CRITICAL: Diffusion amplification compounds CROSS-013 divergent variance problem
C9-12 CRITICAL: chi_cascade uses simple percolation threshold fc — category error, complex contagion requires different math
C9-15 CRITICAL: Parameter explosion to 53+ with constraint ratio 2-3 (minimum acceptable: 5-10)
Session 9 was the project's first major setback. The Network Scientist entered with good research — five methodology-5/5 papers covering scale-free networks (Broido & Clauset 2019), complex contagion thresholds (Centola 2018), misinformation spread (Vosoughi 2018), Facebook topology (Ugander 2011), and network resilience (Albert 2000). The data was solid. The problem was the integration.
Four critical issues caused the Philosopher to reject the entire update. First, the proposed F_pol polarization equation reintroduced raw gamma_conf instead of gamma_conf_eff (the sigmoid-saturated version that Session 7 had specifically designed to prevent overflow). Second, a diffusion amplification term compounded the already-critical CROSS-013 infinite variance problem. Third, the cascade susceptibility chi_cascade applied simple percolation mathematics to complex contagion — a category error, since opinions require ~25% neighbor adoption (Centola 2018), not the single-exposure dynamics of disease spreading. Fourth, the update would push the total parameter count to 53+ with a constraint ratio of only 2-3 observations per parameter — the Philosopher required at least 5-10.
Only G_t as a 5-tuple representation and the A_8 connectivity dynamics were approved with caveats. The research findings were logged in topology.md for future use. No formula change was recorded: version stayed at 0.5.3. Bootstrap phase: 9/10 — one agent remained before urgency-weighted rotation would take over.
